SJÓBORG Leirvík, FAROE ISLANDS
Sjóborg is one of the leading fishing vessel companies in the Faroe Islands, equipped with optimized vessels that catch groundfish and great silver smelt in Faroese waters; the groundfish species include cod, haddock, saithe (coley), black halibut, monkfish, and wolffish (ocean catfish). Most of the fish is landed at Leirvík, Runavík and Toftir and the annual catch amounts to approximately 11,000 tonnes.
 
The company Sp/f Sjóborg was founded in 1993, and today it manages 6 ships, two of chich are pairtrawlers 37 m. long. two prawners, one 61 m long and the other 59 m. They both fish by the east coast of Greenland, New Foundland and Svalbard.
 
Since the owners of Sjóborg started in 1970, they have been owners of 29 ships, which have fished in the North Atlantic, mostly around the Faroe Islands and in the North Sea. Some ships have also fished by the African coast.
